Update and Request

Hello, everyone!

I'm slowly on the mend. The meds keeps me tired and sleepy and lot, so my "coherent" time per day is somewhat limited -- okay, QUITE limited per day. That's why I have not blogged more often. And it's not a great deal of fun for my family or my nurses, either right now. Tonight, it took TWO nurses TWO hours to flush my chemo port, change my catheter, clean my body, pack and dress my wound, and get me situated in bed. The family rotates staying up with me, taking care of me, and taking care of our still very-busy household.

Anyway, I am fighting a bed sore, and would certainly appreciate your prayers. The ONLY way this is done is by keeping pressure OFF the butt, which is a real challenge when you are paralyzed and, well, stuck ON your butt.

So -- you can see why I haven't been writing to you. Life is really down to the bare basics right now. Breathe, sleep, medicate. Not very interesting, I'm afraid. Not-so-fun days, but days that must needs come ...

I am coming back. It just takes time, and patience, and energy that I haven't found yet.

Love to all from the bottom of my heart!

:-) Sharon

Hi Sharon,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. You always amaze me with your positive outlook and determination to continue living your life to the fullest. I have been struggling with my own medcial issues lately, which seem so miniscule in comparison to yours. But you give me the inspiration and hope that I will see better days soon. Thank you so much for sharing yourself with all of us. I really hope that you will be strong soon so that you can receive the surgery that you need.
Warmest wishes from NJ,

Thank You so much for the update. I've been putting my feelers out trying to get info which has been difficult since I'm usually the one "in the know". There are a slew of Sharon LEMINGHEADS out here thinking of you every day, sending you healing wishes right down to that sore but wonderful butt of yours.

You are a special gem......
Love,
Judy

Duchess!!!!!!

Heya girlie! I am writing to you tonight from the thankfully still standing house of mine after our 'Wizard of Oz' evening. It got reallll scary earlier. On our way back from feeding our horses, the storm snuck up on us faster than we ever imagined one would and we were stuck and apparently facing down a tornadic storm in the middle of dinner time rush traffic in our fair little town. What appeared to be smoke turned out to be either a small tornado or sheets of torrential rain debatedly. After much Nascar driving in a huge Diesel Dually, we arrived home only to hear the sirens go off as we ran from the truck in to the house. I all but threw my daughter and the dog in to the laundry room and shut the other door as our house began to breathe. With ears popping and power going out intermittently, we struggled to keep abreast of the situation via the local weather station. It was when my nephews toys in my backyard began bouncing up and down that I thought it might be agood idea to forgo the weather man and hunker down myself lol. Thankfully, the only damage we seem to have sustained are a few branches out of the trees and a portion of the neighbors fence toppled in to our backyard. But we are all safe and unharmed. Whew! My poor sis in law had to ride out the storm alone with a 2 1/2 year old and their 3 week old newborn. Poor girl, but she was a trooper.

Im so sorry to hear of the 'pain in the butt'? shall we say? I have gone through this with my grandmother before. It is by no means pleasant and of course as always we are praying for you. I am glad to hear that you are on the mend though and hopefully will be continuing that trend. Know always that we are all out here always thinking of you and continuously pray for your recovery. And we are thankful each day for your presence in this world.

Love you girl!

If you have not switch to an airbed, now might be a good time to do so. They have chambers which change in pressure so you are effectively "moved" around, since you are unable to. This results changing pressure points so that there is never any "one" that is bearing it all. Look after that sore - very important.
Love you.

Sharon - thanks for the update. I hope that the sore heals soon. Can you use some type of "donut" air cushion to help with the sore (to keep pressure off)?

Hang in there.

Lots of people who have never met you are thinking about, talking about and praying for your butt. There is some humour there somewhere. Wishing you strength and healing. Love from Canada.

Hi S.P.B.,
For obvious reasons, It's pretty crowded over at the ICU post site. I hope you don't mind but I think I'd prefer to come here, the place of your last entry. I still have things I want to say to you and this is where your fingers last typed. I called Rendevous yesterday to set up more dinners for Don and the kids. It's from Debra and me. We weren't close enough to bring a casserole, haha. I remember you told me you usually had something set aside in the freezer just in case you got a call that a church member was in need. You so loved your tight knit community. More later SPB........
Love,
Judy

Hey SPB,
So one thing I stupidly never got around to telling you and am kicking myself for now is my area got an IHop and a couple of CVS'. Those two places will always remind me of you and Don. Remember how much I loved the home fries at Ihop but would still steal a couple of your french fries when we went. I know what a huge couponer you were so when I shop at CVS I think I'll use your phone number so Don can use the coupon credits, haha. I remember making fun of you going to the little coupon machines to get extra ones. Much love to you........Judy

Hey S.P.B., your friend Ed wrote that he was going to post your last blog entry in a few days. That you wrote it knowing it would be your last. I honestly don't know if I can bear to look. I love coming here....it keeps me feeling close to you my dear friend. But I am in tears now, just thinking about what it will feel like to read your final correspondance to us all.

Love.....your #1 fan....judy

Hello my darling S.P.B., I haven't touched base in a while. For a long time I was afraid to check in, afraid that your final post would be up. When it was finally posted your dear friend Janet sent me an email to let me know. We all, your blog friends, still chat about you with great admiration and a sad heart because we miss you.
I'm going back to LA in a week or so and will go to some our stomping grounds in S.M......so many memories, so many streets and neighborhoods. I will be bugging that son of yours of course. I'm going to bribe him into a visit with my banana bread.....haha. I'll let you know how it goes,
love......Judy
